Growing up in a medical family, Dr. Kevin Fan Zhang developed a curiosity and passion for healthcare from an early age. He completed his Bachelor of Medical Science at the Australian National University before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Melbourne.
Dr. Zhang has practised dentistry in both Australia and Canada, including several years in Alberta, before making Vancouver his permanent home. Since settling in British Columbia, he has also completed his Master of Business Administration at the UBC Sauder School of Business, combining his clinical background with a strong interest in healthcare leadership and innovation.
As Founder and Clinical Director of Mayfair Dental, Dr. Zhang provides selected implant, surgical, and advanced restorative care at the clinic while serving as an advisor and clinical resource to the Mayfair dental team. His role focuses on supporting comprehensive treatment planning, complex cases, and the continued development of a high standard of patient care across the practice.
Passionate about dentistry and healthcare, Dr. Zhang is committed to lifelong learning and regularly participates in continuing education programs and study clubs to stay current with advances in clinical dentistry. He currently serves as President of the Chinese Canadian Dental Society of BC.
Dr. Zhang also has a strong interest in the connection between oral and systemic health. His research examining relationships among diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and periodontal health has been published, reinforcing his belief that improving oral health can play an important role in a patient’s overall well-being.
Clinically, Dr. Zhang has extensive experience across a broad range of dentistry, including dental implants, surgical procedures, complex restorative treatment, root canal therapy, and wisdom tooth extractions. He also provides conscious sedation for appropriate patients who may feel anxious or apprehensive about dental treatment.
At the heart of Dr. Zhang’s approach is communication. He believes patients should fully understand their options and feel comfortable and in control of their treatment decisions. He strives to make dental visits relaxed, approachable, and even enjoyable — and his treatment rooms are often filled with conversation, jokes, and laughter.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Zhang enjoys travelling and staying active. You’ll often find him golfing, playing tennis, following motorsports, or scuba diving whenever the opportunity arises.
